From the Brink of Danger to Recovery

On the morning of April 10, 2025, five-month-old Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed Tayeb arrived at Al-Shahid Dr. Yasser Wathab Hospital in Khiran Al-Muharraq in critical condition.
Mohammed was suffering from severe watery diarrhea, extreme dehydration, high fever, complete lethargy, and acute severe malnutrition. He was unable to breastfeed, and signs of shock and dehydration had begun to appear.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Nusairi, the pediatrician overseeing the case, said:
"When we received Mohammed, his vital signs were alarming. We immediately began resuscitating him with IV fluids and rehydration solutions and included him in a comprehensive treatment plan that included antibiotics and therapeutic milk (F100)."
After initial stabilization in the isolation center, Mohammed was transferred to the Therapeutic Feeding Center (TFC) to address complications and malnutrition. There, the medical team began feeding him intensively and monitored his condition daily under the direct supervision of nutritionists and pediatricians.
The care continued for ten days, during which clear signs of improvement emerged:
Mohammed regained his ability to breastfeed from his mother as his health gradually improved. With the disappearance of acute symptoms and complications, his weight increased from 4 kg to 4.8 kg. This progress was the result of the family’s adherence to nutritional guidance and continuous medical follow-up, helping him regain his strength and return to his normal growth pattern.
The child’s father, with relief on his face, said:
"I was afraid of losing my son due to severe malnutrition and diarrhea. But thanks to God, and then the efforts of the medical team, he regained his health before our eyes. I will never forget this moment for the rest of my life."
As for Dr. Mohammed Al-Nusairi, he concluded by saying:
"This case shows how a rapid response and continuous care can make a real difference in the lives of children suffering from malnutrition with complications. Mohammed is now a healthy child." Mohammed is currently completing his treatment at the outpatient nutrition clinic.
This experience was not just the treatment of a medical condition but the saving of a life... and the restoration of hope.
