WFP Visits Mutmah and Oversees Emergency Food Aid Distribution by NAHR

The Resident Representative of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Yemen, Mr. Beber Arnora, and the Director of the Sana'a Area Office, Mr. Wahid Habib, visited Mutmah Directorate in Al Jawf Governorate to oversee the distribution process of emergency food assistance for the month of November, which is being implemented by the National Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Response (NAHR).

During the visit, they inspected the distribution mechanisms of food baskets and the reception of beneficiaries at two distribution centers: Husun Bin Saad and Al Shanan. A total of 4,691 beneficiaries in Mutmah Directorate were distributed across four distribution centers.

The WFP Representative in Yemen also visited a number of food warehouses, where he examined the food storage procedures, measurement methods, and complaint handling and reception procedures. He expressed his gratitude to the field team for their excellent organization and arrangement in the distribution and storage processes, in accordance with humanitarian standards.

In a meeting with a group of beneficiaries, the WFP Director, the Executive Director of the National Foundation, and the Director of the WFP Sana'a Office discussed the challenges they face. Beneficiaries highlighted the importance of continuing food assistance to alleviate the economic burden on needy families and called for an increase in the size of the food basket to include a larger segment of the affected population. They also expressed the need for all residents of the directorate to receive assistance due to the economic blockade, the deterioration of agricultural lands caused by floods resulting from climate change, and their inability to protect or reclaim these lands.
