Majed''s Success Story | A Small Step… A Great Impact ?

In the village of Beit Al-Lakumi, in the sub-district of Al-Jadam, Maswar District, Amran Governorate — where geographical isolation and scarce resources prevail — Majed Mabkhout’s family (30 years old) was living in harsh conditions. Like many other households suffering from food insecurity, the family of nine members struggled daily to meet their basic needs amid food shortages and poor dietary diversity.
Majed says:
"We went through very difficult days… Sometimes we couldn’t find enough food for our children."
Through the integrated, life-saving humanitarian assistance project targeting the most vulnerable families in the areas of food security, health, nutrition, protection, in addition to multi-purpose cash assistance, water, and environmental sanitation, the family benefited from unconditional cash transfers. They received $100 per month for six months, which provided them with a regular source of support that helped them overcome the toughest living conditions.
As the support continued, signs of change gradually began to appear, especially after the fourth round of assistance.
Majed adds with a smile:
"The situation has changed a lot… Now we can meet our basic needs, and that gave us hope to start anew."
With a small but impactful step, Majed decided to invest part of the support. He bought two goats to start a small project that would help him secure a sustainable source of income for his family.
"I bought two goats… and today I feel that I’ve started a new path — to depend on myself and provide a better life for my children."
Today, Majed’s family no longer faces the same challenges as before. They have become more capable of meeting their basic food needs, marking the beginning of a journey toward stability and self-reliance.
Majed’s story is not just a temporary improvement — it is the beginning of hope for a more dignified and sustainable life. ✨
